I just created a petition asking our Mayor and City Council to allow backyard chickens in Hamilton. Many cities across Canada already permit urban hens with simple guidelines that ensure animal welfare and good neighborly relations.
Backyard hens provide fresh eggs, natural pest control, and promote sustainable food practices right at home! This petition proposes reasonable regulations including a limit of 4 hens per household (no roosters!), backyard-only placement, and proper maintenance requirements.
